Mount Rinjani
via Sembalun crossing Torrean Route
Mount Rinjani via Sembalun with a crossing descent through the Torean Route is one of the most complete and scenic trekking experiences in Indonesia. The journey begins in the vast savannah of Sembalun, where wide open landscapes lead trekkers toward the iconic Crater Rim, offering sweeping views above the clouds. From there, the route continues to the summit of Mount Rinjani (3,726m), rewarding hikers with a breathtaking sunrise above Lombok’s volcanic horizon.
After the summit experience, the trek descends toward Segara Anak Lake, a stunning crater lake nestled within the caldera, where trekkers can rest and soak in natural hot springs surrounded by dramatic volcanic cliffs. The journey then transitions into the Torean Route, a lush and mystical jungle trail known for its river valleys, waterfalls, and dramatic canyon-like scenery—often considered the most beautiful descent route on the mountain.
This cross-route expedition combines the best of both worlds: the iconic challenge of the Sembalun ascent and the immersive natural beauty of the Torean descent, making it a full-spectrum Mount Rinjani adventure for those seeking both challenge and unforgettable landscapes.
